Sri Lanka is entering a new phase of digital commerce as Bybit Pay, in partnership with Ceylon Cash, launches a nationwide crypto-enabled payment initiative through CeyPay. The program marks Bybit’s expansion of its Asian merchant network, with 100 Sri Lankan merchants set to adopt blockchain-powered payment solutions.
Bybit Pay is distributing 100 point-of-sale (PoS) devices—50 for physical stores and 50 for online merchants—enabling a seamless plug-and-play experience for businesses and consumers. The rollout will allow both local and international customers to transact in fiat or cryptocurrency, making it particularly attractive to Sri Lanka’s tourism sector and emerging tech startups.
According to Nazar Tymoshchuk, Bybit’s Regional Manager, the nation’s evolving digital landscape and need for secure, affordable payment systems make it ideal for blockchain adoption. The platform offers merchants enhanced protection against payment disputes and access to a broader, crypto-savvy customer base.
Bybit Pay’s entry into Sri Lanka aligns with global trends of digital asset integration, offering businesses an alternative to volatile fiat systems while positioning the country as a potential crypto hub in South Asia. The initiative is expected to deepen financial inclusion, modernize commerce, and strengthen Sri Lanka’s reputation as a forward-looking digital economy.
