UN recognises Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030 as a global best practice in digital transformation

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) has included Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030 in its global compendium of best practices in digital government and digital transformation, recognising the country’s leadership in building a comprehensive and future-ready digital ecosystem.

The recognition reflects international appreciation of Qatar’s approach to aligning long-term digital strategy with phased institutional implementation, and for directly linking digital transformation with national development objectives. As a result, Qatar’s Digital Agenda is now positioned as a global benchmark for countries seeking to align digital transformation with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The inclusion was made by the UN’s Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) following a systematic evaluation of the agenda’s content and implementation framework. The Digital Agenda 2030 was recognised as an exemplary model for strategic digital planning due to its alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030, its emphasis on inclusive impact across all segments of society, and its support for knowledge-based innovation.

UNDESA commended the agenda for effectively aligning digital policies with development priorities while maintaining a balance between advanced technology adoption and the principles of inclusivity and sustainability. This approach reinforces Qatar’s position as a regional and global hub for excellence in digital governance and technological development.

The Digital Agenda 2030 serves as Qatar’s national roadmap for digital transformation and forms a core pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy 2024–2030. It is built on three technological pathways: universal connectivity, high-performance computing to enhance data-processing efficiency, and integrated AI-driven automation to support resilient and scalable digital infrastructure.

The strategy is structured around six interrelated pillars, including the development of secure digital infrastructure, enhancement of digital government efficiency, building national digital and data capabilities, stimulating innovation and the digital economy, and empowering a digitally aware society capable of adapting to rapid change.

By integrating these pillars, Qatar has transformed digital transformation into a comprehensive development pathway that strengthens governance, accelerates economic growth, and enhances national readiness for future demands, earning its place among global best practices.
