Egypt Hosts 2nd Software Testing Day, Emphasizing AI’s Role in Shaping Future Trends

Cairo, Egypt: The Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC) of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) recently hosted the second edition of Software Testing Day at the Creativa Innovation Hub in Giza. Themed ‘Navigating the Future: AI-Driven Software Testing Trends,’ the event showcased Egypt’s commitment to becoming a leader in software testing and enhancing its digital exports.

Industry leaders convened to discuss the transformative role of AI in software testing, sharing insights on how AI-driven tools can enhance tester skills, improve recruitment strategies, and leverage generative AI for automating test processes and creating test cases.

Ahmed ElZaher, CEO of ITIDA, highlighted the profound impact of AI and generative AI on the software industry, noting their potential to revolutionize software testing through improved productivity, accuracy, and speed. “Adopting advanced technologies is vital for the growth of Egypt’s IT sector as we focus on talent development, foster innovation, and expand into global markets,” said ElZaher. He reaffirmed ITIDA’s dedication to advancing local digital skills and maintaining alignment with international software engineering standards.

Market Dynamics and Adoption Trends in Egypt

A recent survey conducted by SECC revealed significant AI and automation adoption within Egypt’s software testing market, particularly in the sectors of banking, financial services, ICT, governmental services, and healthcare. Automation is prevalent, with half of the companies utilizing it extensively and a majority favoring open-source tools like Selenium for test management and defect handling.

Despite facing challenges in sourcing highly skilled testers, especially in areas like cybersecurity, Egyptian companies continue to invest heavily in training, with over 55% of testers holding international certifications such as ISTQB, representing more than 75% of the testing workforce.

Global Insights and Egypt’s Strategic Position

Globally, AI-driven testing automation is set to reduce testing times by 30%, improve coverage by up to 85%, and expedite market launch times by 50%. As AI technology evolves, it promises not only to create new job opportunities but also to reshape existing roles within the testing landscape.

Egypt is positioning itself as a significant player in the global software testing market, backed by its large, young, multilingual talent pool and robust educational infrastructure, producing around 55,000 IT graduates annually. With its strategic location and supportive government policies, Egypt is well-positioned to become a leading IT hub in the digital era, offering substantial opportunities for growth and innovation.
