CST Finalizes Operational Plan to Enhance Digital Services for Ramadan 1447 AH

Riyadh – February 18, 2026: The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) has completed its operational preparations to ensure robust digital services for pilgrims and visitors during Ramadan 1447 AH.

The plan is designed to enhance the digital experience of Umrah performers and visitors to the Two Holy Mosques, supporting seamless connectivity and access to smart applications throughout the holy month.

The initiative is being implemented under the supervision of Minister of Communications and Information Technology and CST Board Chairman Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha, alongside CST Governor Haitham bin Abdulrahman Al-Ohali.

Expanded 5G Coverage Around the Holy Mosques

As part of the preparations, CST expanded 5G network deployment in and around the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, including surrounding courtyards. The move is intended to provide high-speed internet capable of supporting digital services, navigation tools, and smart applications used by pilgrims.

Wireless network coverage has also been extended across public facilities in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure uninterrupted access to digital platforms.

Dedicated engineering and technical teams have been deployed around the clock to monitor network performance, maintain service quality, and address any technical issues promptly. The aim is to deliver reliable, integrated connectivity throughout pilgrims’ journeys.

Strengthening Infrastructure for Peak Demand

As the Kingdom’s communications sector regulator, CST said it is mobilizing resources in coordination with service providers to ensure continuity and resilience of digital infrastructure during Ramadan, a period that sees significant increases in connectivity demand.

The operational plan aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader digital transformation agenda, ensuring that telecommunications infrastructure supports religious tourism and enhances the overall visitor experience.
