e& has announced that Group CEO Hatem Dowidar will step down on March 31 after six years in the role, concluding a period marked by significant transformation and international expansion.
Dowidar, who has led the company since 2020, oversaw its evolution from a regional telecom operator into a diversified global technology group. During his tenure, e& expanded its footprint across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe, while broadening its portfolio beyond traditional telecom services into digital, fintech, enterprise and consumer solutions.
He will be succeeded by Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, currently CEO of e& UAE, effective April 1. Mahmood will assume group chief executive responsibilities while continuing in his UAE leadership role.
Chairman Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Alzaabi credited Dowidar with playing a central role in advancing the group’s transformation strategy and strengthening long-term shareholder value. Dowidar said leading e& during a defining chapter in its history had been an honour, highlighting the company’s international growth and development of new business verticals.
