Emirates NBD Egypt has introduced Apple Pay for its customers, enabling secure, contactless, and private payments across a wide range of transactions. The launch allows cardholders to make purchases using their iPhone or Apple Watch without presenting a physical card, handling cash, or touching payment terminals.
Each transaction is authenticated through Face ID, Touch ID, or a device passcode, along with a unique one-time dynamic security code. This layered security framework enhances protection while maintaining speed and convenience at checkout.
Apple Pay is accepted at grocery stores, pharmacies, taxis, restaurants, coffee shops, and retail outlets. Customers can also use the service for online purchases via iPhone, iPad, or Mac, enabling faster checkout within apps or Safari without re-entering shipping and billing information. Payments can also be completed directly through Apple Watch, offering added convenience for services such as food delivery, transportation, and parking.
Privacy remains central to the service. Card numbers are not stored on devices or Apple servers. Instead, each card is assigned a unique Device Account Number, encrypted and securely stored within the device’s Secure Element. Customers can activate Apple Pay through the Wallet app by linking their Emirates NBD credit or debit cards across compatible Apple devices, while continuing to receive all associated card rewards and benefits.
To commemorate the rollout, Emirates NBD is offering 50% cashback for cardholders who transact using Apple Pay. The launch supports Egypt’s broader push toward digital payment adoption and reinforces the bank’s alignment with global digital banking standards and Egypt’s Vision 2030 objectives for a secure and integrated financial ecosystem.
