Amber IT to Launch 500 Free Wi-Fi Zones to Boost Nationwide Connectivity

In a significant move to bridge the digital divide in Bangladesh, internet service provider Amber IT Limited has announced plans to establish 500 free Wi-Fi zones across the country by the end of 2026. The initiative is designed to provide seamless internet access to existing broadband subscribers while offering affordable, high-speed connectivity to the general public through a unique community-based model.

The project utilizes a grassroots approach, installing Wi-Fi hotspots at small local businesses like pharmacies, tea stalls, and grocery shops. This not only ensures widespread accessibility in busy public areas but also creates secondary income streams for local entrepreneurs who manage the service points. While Amber IT broadband users can log in for free using their registered mobile numbers, non-subscribers can purchase incredibly low-cost “coupon cards” starting at just Tk 8 for five hours. Initial zones have already been activated in Barishal, Bhola, Sreemangal, Sirajganj, and Nilphamari, with 15 more locations—including major transport hubs—set to go live before the upcoming Eid holidays.
