Orange Tunisie launches Eutelsat-based satellite broadband service

Orange Tunisie has launched a satellite broadband service in Tunisia using Eutelsat’s KONNECT satellite, offering internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps. The new Orange Satellite service is designed primarily for remote and underserved areas where terrestrial telecom infrastructure is limited or unavailable.

The operator said the service will cover the entire country, helping extend connectivity to isolated communities and businesses. Two packages are being offered, including one specifically tailored for professionals working in remote locations.

The solution uses Eutelsat’s latest-generation KONNECT satellite, which provides higher bandwidth capacity, improved signal stability, and stronger overall performance compared with earlier satellite systems.

The launch follows a multi-year partnership between Orange Africa and Middle East (OMEA) and Eutelsat, announced last year to expand satellite broadband services across several markets. The agreement initially covered Jordan, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with plans to gradually expand to other Orange operating markets.

In addition to geostationary satellite services, Orange signed a separate agreement with Eutelsat Group in June 2025 to use the OneWeb low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellite constellation, targeting enterprise and government connectivity needs across Africa and the Middle East.

Orange currently operates telecom networks across multiple markets in Africa and the Middle East, including Egypt, Morocco, Senegal, Botswana, Cameroon, Mali, Madagascar, and Sierra Leone, among others.
