Jordan launches mobile early warning system pilot

Jordan has launched a pilot mobile early warning system to deliver real-time alerts for severe weather and emergencies directly to citizens’ phones.

The initiative, led by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship in collaboration with the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, is being tested in the Petra region to evaluate effectiveness under real-world conditions. Alerts will include audible signals to ensure immediate attention.

Authorities confirmed the messages are part of a trial and aim to strengthen national preparedness, improve response times, and enhance public safety during events such as floods and extreme weather.
