The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company has deployed a cloud-based vehicle fleet management and tracking system in partnership with stc Bahrain, adding real-time visibility and centralised control over its vehicle assets as part of a broader digital transformation programme.
The system provides live fleet tracking, predictive maintenance support, incident response capability and data-driven operational reporting. ASRY says the deployment is intended to reduce downtime, improve safety compliance and optimise asset utilisation across its yard operations.
Mohammed Al Sharqawy, IT Senior Manager at ASRY, said the solution aligns with the company’s wider digital strategy and that further digital initiatives are planned. Hesham Mustafa, Chief Business Officer at stc Bahrain, described the partnership as part of stc’s commitment to advancing industrial digital transformation in Bahrain.
ASRY is the Gulf’s largest independent ship repair and building facility, operating from a dry dock complex in Hidd, Bahrain.
Editor’s Note: The deployment is a small but indicative signal of stc Bahrain’s enterprise IoT and connected solutions push at a moment when the operator’s parent infrastructure — including co-located AWS facilities at Batelco — is under active conflict pressure. Industrial connectivity contracts with Gulf maritime operators represent a revenue stream that sits outside the residential and consumer segments most directly exposed to the current regional disruption.
