Oran has entered the global top 50 cities for mobile internet speed for the first time, joining Algiers in the ranking, according to Algeria’s Ministry of Post and Telecommunications.
The ministry announced the milestone on Sunday, highlighting further improvement in mobile broadband performance across Algeria’s major urban centres.
Oran’s entry means Algeria now has two cities represented among the world’s 50 highest-ranked cities for mobile internet speed.
Mobile network performance continues to improve
The development points to continued improvements in Algeria’s mobile telecommunications infrastructure as operators expand capacity and upgrade network performance.
Algiers had already reached the global top 50, while Oran’s addition broadens Algeria’s representation in the ranking beyond the capital.
The ministry did not provide the cities’ exact positions, measured download speeds or the underlying reporting period in the information released.
