BTRC Seeks Public Input on Draft Guidelines for NGSO Satellite Service Operators

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has invited public feedback on its draft regulatory and licensing guidelines for Non-Geostationary Orbit (NGSO) Satellite Service Operators. This initiative aims to establish clear guidelines for providing NGSO satellite services in Bangladesh.

The draft guidelines are accessible on the BTRC website at btrc.gov.bd, as stated in a press release issued on 29 October. Interested individuals or organizations are encouraged to submit their opinions by 18 November to the email addresses me****@bt**.bd and za*****@bt**.bd .

According to the BTRC, obtaining a license is mandatory under the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulation Act 2001 for any organization wishing to offer satellite-based services within the country. To date, no licenses or permissions have been granted for the provision of NGSO satellite services.

With the rapid expansion of NGSO satellite services in the telecommunications sector driven by global technological advancements, BTRC has taken proactive steps to create regulatory and licensing guidelines to facilitate these services in Bangladesh. A draft of these guidelines has already been prepared as part of this initiative.
