Qatar Positioned to Become a Global Innovation Hub, Says Expert

Doha: Qatar is “best positioned” to transform into a global hub of innovation, driven by several key factors, according to Silvina Moschini, CEO of Unicorns Inc. and Founder of Unicoin Inc.

Moschini highlighted two primary factors that place Qatar at the forefront of innovation: digital transformation and strategic geolocation. “As part of Qatar National Vision 2030, the main driving force is digital transformation, which plays a crucial role in diversifying the economy,” she stated in an interview with The Peninsula.

She emphasized that government incentives for startups are significant, aligning with various organizations such as the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) and Media City.

The second factor is Qatar’s advantageous geolocation, which attracts businesses and foreign direct investment. “Qatar sits between East and West—just six hours to the Philippines and six hours to Madrid—making it a prime location for connectivity and travel,” Moschini explained. She also praised Qatar Airways for providing an exceptional and hassle-free travel experience.

Looking ahead, Moschini mentioned that numerous agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Qatari partners are planned for 2025. Earlier this year, she signed pacts with QFC during the Qatar Economic Forum and expanded partnerships with Qatar Airways, Media City, and the Qatari Businesswomen Association.

“Our goal is to help international entrepreneurs settle in Qatar and navigate the myriad opportunities the country offers through various programs and organizations, ultimately turning Qatar into a ‘Unicorns Factory,’” she said.

Moschini reiterated that Qatar’s strategic location provides easy access to Southeast Asia and Europe, facilitating the deployment process for emerging businesses. “The show will give us visibility, reaching over 300 million potential viewers, with expectations of growth as we forge more networks, partnerships, and investments,” she added.

Additionally, she mentioned creating investment clubs to secure support from Qatari entities aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030. This initiative aims to capitalize on the momentum generated by the World Cup, showcasing Qatar’s offerings and potential opportunities to a global audience.

Lauding Qatar’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, Moschini remarked, “There are incredible, well-designed buildings, technological capacity, and hospitality, allowing Doha to welcome more people.”

Qatar’s hosting of international events, including the upcoming Grand Prix, has opened doors for tourism, providing an opportunity to showcase Qatari culture and hospitality to the world.

Unicorns Inc. has also signed an agreement with UN Tourism to promote innovation in the region and foster entrepreneurial growth through unique experiences.
