Zain Group Wins “Best People Development” Award for Its Inclusion, Diversity & Equity Initiative

Zain Group, a leading provider of innovative technologies and digital lifestyle communications across eight markets in the Middle East and Africa, has been recognized with the “Best People Development” award for its Inclusion, Diversity & Equity (IDEU) initiative at the Merit Summit Awards in Dubai.

Since 2017, the MERITS forum has been a platform for HR and Learning & Development leaders from international companies to recognize achievements in organizational and leadership development, as well as elevate the standard of corporate learning. The MERITS awards are specifically designed to highlight impactful, transformative initiatives.

Zain’s IDEU program provides an immersive, interactive, and engaging learning experience tailored to the demands of today’s fast-evolving digital landscape. It allows 2,000 Zain professionals to enhance their skills and evolve into the leaders and innovators driving digital transformation within their departments. The program’s goal is not only to address current challenges but to prepare Zain employees to excel in the face of both known and unforeseen obstacles in the business world.

As a people-first organization, Zain seeks to advance its mission and business goals while enhancing the capabilities of its workforce. The company established the IDEU in partnership with Spain’s IE University, offering 2,000 Zain leaders the opportunity to participate in an inclusive Digital Transformation program (MDT), which includes a path to earn a master’s degree.

Since launching in May 2023, 1,895 employees have embarked on their digital transformation journeys, with a passing rate of 94%. Additionally, over 700 active students are pursuing a master’s degree, 4,000+ certificates have been attained, and over 45,000 training hours have been logged.

This program is one of the largest internal education initiatives globally, reinforcing Zain’s position as a leader in employee development. It sets a new benchmark for workforce development in an industry characterized by rapid technological advancements, including the rise of AI. Zain’s commitment to upskilling its employees aims to bridge the digital divide and foster inclusive growth in the workforce.
