Quantum.Tech, the pioneering event dedicated to the entire quantum ecosystem, will expand into the Gulf region with a gathering of global quantum leaders in Qatar. The Quantum.Tech Cryptography & AI Spotlight will take place on January 13th, followed by the main conference from January 14th to 15th at the Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl, Doha.
Founded in the US and Europe in 2019, Quantum.Tech is the first event focused on quantum platforms, processors, cryptography, and sensing. This year, in partnership with Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Qatar’s Ministry of Defence, and Invest Qatar, the event marks a significant milestone for the Gulf’s emerging quantum industry.
Qatar is home to the Qatar Center for Quantum Computing (QC2) at HBKU, which is dedicated to advancing research in quantum communication, computing, and sensing. QC2 is the first quantum research center in Qatar, leading theoretical and experimental research in these critical areas of quantum information science.
The event will feature speakers from leading organizations, including JPMorgan Chase, British Telecom, HSBC, Citi Global, Rolls Royce, Deutsche Bank, Kuwait Gulf Oil Company, Moody’s Analytics, and others. Dr. Saif Al-Kuwari, Director of QC2, commented, “We are thrilled to host this landmark quantum event, bringing together global visionaries and innovators to explore the limitless potential of quantum technologies.”
The event will feature a three-day format, beginning with a full-day Quantum Cryptography and AI workshop. The main conference will cover real-world case studies and the practical implications of quantum technologies across industries such as defense, energy, logistics, aviation, telecoms, finance, pharma, and healthcare. Key sessions include:
- Industry-government collaboration for quantum applications
- Advancements in quantum computing
- Preparing for quantum technologies
- Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) commercialization
- Quantum technology in telecoms and future connectivity
- Quantum innovation and investment opportunities
Qatar’s strategic investments in quantum technologies, supported by international partnerships, are positioning it as a regional leader in quantum innovation. These efforts align with Qatar’s broader goal to diversify its economy and foster technological advancement, as outlined in the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Gulf region, including countries like the UAE and Saudi Arabia, is also making significant investments in quantum technologies. These efforts are aimed at advancing sectors like healthcare, energy, and AI, contributing to the region’s growing quantum market.
Jim Raddings, Programme Manager for Alpha Events, the conference organizer, expressed, “It’s an honor to work closely with Dr. Saif Al-Kuwari, local stakeholders, and international partners to expand the Quantum.Tech brand into Qatar. This event offers a unique opportunity for collaboration and insight into the growing infrastructure and ecosystem of the Gulf region.”
The event’s sponsors include Multiverse Computing, Pasqal, Qrypt, Quantum Computing Inc., Quantum Circuits Inc., Invest Qatar, Quantinuum, Arqit, and BlueQubit Inc.
