Nigeria’s telecom industry is expected to enter a strong expansion phase in 2026 after a year of consolidation, driven by rising data demand, regulatory stability, and new government-led digital infrastructure initiatives, according to ATCON.
Islamabad, November 5, 2025 — Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja announced that Pakistan’s telecom and digital sectors have achieved remarkable growth, positioning the country among Asia’s fastest-emerging digital economies. Speaking at the 26th South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC-26) meeting, the minister highlighted key progress under the Digital Nation Pakistan agenda.
The TRC’s Q2 2025 report shows strong momentum in mobile and broadband usage. Mobile broadband grew 15.5% year-on-year, while fiber broadband reached 76% of subscriptions. SMS traffic surged 18.2%, and average monthly broadband usage hit 605 GB. Fixed voice services, however, continued their gradual decline.

Despite a decline in prepaid subscriptions and traditional fixed-line services, mobile broadband and high-speed internet subscriptions continue to rise, reflecting the country’s shift toward modern digital infrastructure.
