Algeria Expands Vocational Training to Meet Growing Cybersecurity Demand

Algeria’s Ministry of Formation and Vocational Education, in coordination with the Information Systems Security Agency (ASIS), has launched a National Conference aimed at strengthening cybersecurity capabilities and aligning vocational training programs with the country’s growing digital security requirements.

The conference, held in Algiers and inaugurated by Minister Naseema Arhab alongside senior government and cybersecurity officials, reflects national efforts to position cybersecurity as a critical pillar of economic and national security. The initiative supports broader directives to enhance digital resilience while preparing a skilled workforce capable of addressing evolving cyber threats.

During the opening session, Minister Arhab emphasized the importance of developing national competencies in cybersecurity to support Algeria’s digital transformation. She announced the introduction of new certificate-based qualification programs built on a competencies-driven approach, designed to meet increasing demand for professionals in information system monitoring and protection.

The updated training programs will incorporate modern pedagogical tools, including smart classrooms and remote configuration technologies, aimed at improving learning outcomes and expanding access to specialized technical education. The initiative also seeks to modernize vocational specialties and strengthen workforce readiness for technology-driven sectors.

Colonel Abdulsalam Belghoul, Director General of ASIS, highlighted the importance of cybersecurity in safeguarding national digital infrastructure, noting that the conference contributes to strengthening national capabilities through training, awareness, and institutional collaboration.
