Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority has joined GovPay, enabling secure online payments for tourism levies and services. The integration streamlines processes, enhances transparency, and supports Sri Lanka’s digital economy agenda, making tourism more efficient and aligned with the country’s economic revival strategy.
Sri Lanka is advancing its digital transformation to enhance competitiveness and revitalize the economy. The government has launched the “GovPay” initiative to digitize payments and reduce inefficiencies. With international support, Sri Lanka aims to achieve a $15 billion digital economy, investing in infrastructure and promoting innovation across sectors.
Sri Lanka’s ‘GovPay’ digital platform, launching on February 7, will streamline government payments by allowing citizens to pay for services via fintech apps or online banking. Initially integrating 16 institutions, the platform aims for full implementation by April 2025, enhancing efficiency in government revenue collection.
