Africa’s smartphone shipments rose 7% in Q2 2025 to 19.2M units, led by Egypt, Nigeria, and South Africa. Sub-$100 smartphones soared 38%, reshaping demand. Transsion held 51% market share, followed by Samsung and Xiaomi. Rural markets and fintech-driven services are emerging as key growth drivers.
Morocco’s internet market saw a 6.5% growth in 2024, reaching 42.1 million subscribers with a penetration rate of 112.7%. The mobile phone sector also grew by 5.2%, reaching a 161.3% penetration rate, while the fixed telephone sector maintained growth with a 6.4% increase in subscribers.
