Egypt to Launch its First Hyperscale Data Centre

Egypt is poised to welcome its first hyperscale data centre, a result of a shareholders’ agreement between Khazna Data Centers and Benya Group. Khazna, known for its hyperscale data centres in MEA, and Benya, an ICT infrastructure provider in Egypt, are joining forces to establish this landmark project.

Aligning with Egypt’s Technological Vision

Announced in May, the project aligns with Egypt’s plans to enhance its technological infrastructure. Hossam Heiba from GAFI emphasized its significance in localizing IT and data center capabilities, mirroring the country’s technological advancement.

A Boost for AI and Digital Ecosystem

Located in Maadi Technology Park, the data centre represents an investment over $250 million. Expected to contribute 25 MW of IT load, it’s seen as a pivotal component in Egypt’s digital ecosystem and AI development.

International Business Support

Hassan Alnaqbi from Khazna Data Centers highlighted the center’s role in aiding businesses in Egypt to expand globally, providing advanced solutions for multinational corporations in the Middle East and North African markets.

Benya Group’s Commitment

Ahmed Mekky, the Chairman and CEO of Benya Group, expressed enthusiasm for the project, viewing it as a crucial step in reinforcing Benya’s presence in Egypt, supported by Khazna Data Centers.

This development marks a significant milestone in Egypt’s journey towards becoming a leading player in the global digital landscape, offering advanced data services and supporting the burgeoning AI sector.
