On the opening day of GITEX Africa in Marrakech, Morocco’s Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and telecom operator Inwi announced a cooperation agreement to foster innovative entrepreneurship and support digital startups.
This agreement, signed on the sidelines of the ongoing GITEX Africa, signifies a major step in the collaboration between UM6P and Inwi. The joint statement from both parties highlights their commitment to creating new synergies between the private sector and academia, pooling their expertise and resources to nurture an ecosystem favorable to innovation and the growth of young digital enterprises.
A key component of the agreement is the support and acceleration of startup projects that win the InwiDays Awards. The 12th edition of this award will be held at the UM6P campus in Benguerir on June 25. The event is expected to bring together experts, entrepreneurial enthusiasts, and professionals to exchange ideas, particularly focusing on the Sportech sector.
The programs under this agreement aim to identify, engage, and support entrepreneurial talents and innovative projects across several key areas, including fintech, technology, AI, and sportstech. Furthermore, the initiative aspires to establish a national center dedicated to supporting and accelerating startups.
The joint statement underscores the commitment of both UM6P and Inwi. Inwi’s participation aligns perfectly with its vision to support Moroccan startups and promote the digital economy. Meanwhile, UM6P is dedicated to creating an environment that fosters the development and success of startups.
By joining forces, UM6P and Inwi aim to generate significant opportunities for digital startups and contribute to the vibrancy of Morocco’s national entrepreneurial ecosystem.
