Kathmandu: Nepal Telecom, the state-owned telecommunications company, has expanded its 4G mobile services to Machhapuchhre Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp, popular tourist destinations in western Nepal. This extension of 4G service is set to benefit tourists trekking in the Annapurna region, as well as local residents and businesses, according to a statement from Nepal Telecom (NT).
In addition, NT has upgraded Deurali, another tourist site in the Annapurna region, from the previous 2G network to 4G.
Annapurna Base Camp, located in the Kaski district of western Nepal near the tourist hub Pokhara, sits at an altitude of 4,000 meters above sea level.
This marks the first time that 4G telecommunications service has been made available at such a high altitude, according to Nepal Telecom.
