stc, a leading digital services provider, has entered a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy (MEW) to supply Smart Electricity Meters in Kuwait as part of Phase II of the project. This agreement, secured through a successful bid, aligns with stc’s vision of enabling digital transformation and supports Kuwait’s Vision 2035.
The signing ceremony was attended by key executives from both organizations, including Eng. Muataz Aldharrab, CEO of stc; Mohammed Nizar Al-Nusif, CEO of solutions by stc; and Eng. Maha Al-Asousi, Undersecretary of MEW, among other senior officials. The project aims to enhance energy efficiency, streamline operations, and bolster the sustainability of Kuwait’s energy infrastructure.
Under the agreement, stc will supply approximately 500,000 smart electrical meters, complete with circuit breakers and transformers. These components will enable MEW to track energy consumption in real-time, improving electricity management and decision-making. The smart meters are expected to significantly reduce manual interventions, minimize human errors, and ensure accurate billing, contributing to energy conservation.
The advanced electronic platform integrated with these smart meters will automatically collect readings and notify MEW’s support team of any system failures in real-time. This technology will optimize energy usage, reduce wastage, and provide detailed analytics and reporting capabilities, offering insights into consumption patterns and areas for potential energy savings. The implementation of these meters is expected to set a regional benchmark, highlighting Kuwait’s commitment to a sustainable future through technology.
