The number of 4G users in Nepal has surpassed 20 million, with mobile broadband reaching a market share of 66.28%, according to the latest MIS report by the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA).

As of Chaitra 2080, there are 20,832,361 4G users across Nepal. This marks a slight decrease from Falgun 2080, where 4G subscriptions stood at 21,036,909, indicating a reduction of 204,548 users between the two months.

This minor fluctuation is common, but 4G continues to dominate the mobile broadband scene in Nepal, largely due to the strong presence of Nepal Telecom (Ntc) and Ncell. Both operators offer extensive GSM mobile services nationwide and provide various data packs, with carrier aggregation (CA) further enhancing their 4G performance with faster speeds and low latency.

Ntc recorded an increase of 179,415 4G subscriptions in Chaitra 2080, reaching 14,812,629 users. In contrast, Ncell experienced a slight decline of 383,963 4G subscriptions, totaling 6,019,732 users in the same period.

The Need for Improved Service Quality

Both Ntc and Ncell significantly impact Nepal’s telecommunication industry, driving digital transformation and connectivity. However, there is room for improvement in their service quality. According to NTA’s test drive reports, both companies can enhance their voice and data services to better meet customer satisfaction.
