stc Group, a leading digital enabler and telecom services operator, has partnered with Ericsson to achieve a groundbreaking milestone: the world’s first implementation of Automated Radio Resource Partitioning (RRP) on a 5G standalone network slice.
Automated RRP is an innovative software feature based on intent-based automation, enabling dynamic and intelligent allocation of radio resources to different network slices to optimize performance. This pioneering deployment took place in a live network environment with a select group of users, marking a significant industry first.
The advanced software leverages intent-based automation to enhance efficiency and user experience by optimizing network resource allocation. This empowers stc Group to prepare for 5G Advanced, creating a high-performance, programmable network. By setting specific targets for throughput, latency, and availability, stc Group ensures the network meets these goals through efficient resource management.
Part of Ericsson’s 5G Advanced offerings, Automated RRP facilitates scalability and secure user experiences while delivering new services. The demonstration utilized stc Group’s dual-mode 5G Core, Radio, and Transport products provided by Ericsson, alongside the new Automated RRP software feature.
This successful implementation enables stc Group to transition to a high-performing, programmable network powered by 5G Advanced, simplifying operations and reaffirming the Group’s commitment to pioneering advancements in the telecommunications industry.
