KARACHI – The Institute of Business Management (IoBM), in collaboration with New Horizon and Huawei Technologies, hosted an event on Wednesday to showcase the transformative impact of its newly deployed IT infrastructure. Held at a local hotel, the event highlighted IoBM’s strides towards becoming a paperless institution and its leadership in digital transformation in higher education.
The new IT infrastructure aims to streamline day-to-day operations and strategic objectives, enhance LMS software, improve data security, facilitate remote learning, enable efficient resource management, and support innovative teaching methodologies. Huawei Technologies provided the technology, while New Horizon managed the deployment.
Prof. Dr. Tariq Rafi, Chairman of Sindh HEC and the event’s Chief Guest, commended IoBM’s significant IT initiatives, noting that few universities have undertaken such advancements. He stressed the importance of collaboration among universities and the continuing need for human interaction despite technological progress.
Talib Karim, President of IoBM, emphasized the necessity of a robust IT infrastructure to keep researchers, students, and faculty competitive globally. He credited Dr. Imran Batada’s proposal and the support of IoBM’s Board for the successful implementation of the digital infrastructure, highlighting the increasing dominance of technology in academic processes.
M Bashir Janmohammad, Chairman of IoBM’s Board, underscored the essential role of IT development in Pakistan’s future. He emphasized IoBM’s commitment to driving the nation’s technological advancement through strategic initiatives.
Dr. Imran Batada, Chief Digital Officer and Director of CIT at IoBM, discussed the profound impact of digital disruption and transformation on the academic industry in the 21st century, stressing the importance of integrating advanced technologies in education.
Qaiser Sarwar, COO of New Horizon, detailed the development of IoBM’s state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, praising the leadership of IoBM and the support from Huawei Technologies.
Shahzad Rasheed, CEO of Huawei Cloud, emphasized the pivotal role of embracing digital shifts in higher education for Pakistan’s future. He highlighted the potential of technology to democratize access to quality education and equip the youth with necessary skills.
Atif Khan, Commercial Sales Director for South EBG at Huawei, spoke on the importance of integrating digital technology to drive efficiency, growth, and competitive advantage in organizations globally.
A key feature of the event was a panel discussion titled “Redefining Higher Education in a Digitally Disrupted World,” moderated by Dr. Imran Batada. Panelists included Muhammad Zohaib Khan, Chairman of PASHA; Jibran Jamshad, CPO and Education Lead at Microsoft; Asif Jafri, CEO of Kistpay and Director of E-Ocean Pvt. Ltd; and Azhar Nawaz, Chief Information Officer of Engro Corp. The panelists agreed that digital transformation is crucial for revolutionizing educational methodologies and modernizing organizations in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
