Global AI Summit 2024 in Riyadh to Showcase Pioneering Developments in Artificial Intelligence

The third edition of the Global AI Summit (GAIN) will take place from September 10 to 12, 2024, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, gathering technology leaders from around the world to explore the latest advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). Hosted by the Saudi Data & Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), GAIN 2024 will delve into key themes such as Generative AI, AI in urban life, and the ethical governance of AI, providing a comprehensive discussion on AI’s societal, business, and governance impacts.

Set at the King Abdul Aziz International Conference Center, the event will feature over 300 speakers from more than 100 countries, including global leaders and AI specialists. These experts will advance AI discussions and foster international collaborations aimed at driving global AI initiatives and promoting ethical innovation across borders.

The summit will include high-profile sessions, such as a debate on the future of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), panels on AI-powered precision medicine, and workshops on AI’s role in sustainable development and smart cities. Notable participants include top executives from Silicon Valley and global tech leaders, as well as influential policymakers and renowned AI researchers. Among them are Cristiano Amon, President & CEO of Qualcomm Incorporated; Professor Simon See, Global Head at Nvidia AI Technology Centre; Antony Cook, Deputy General Counsel at Microsoft; Nick Studer, President & CEO of Oliver Wyman Group; and Caroline Yap, Global Managing Director at Google Cloud. These leaders will discuss the future of AI governance, ethical AI frameworks, and the importance of international cooperation in harnessing AI’s potential, with special attention to the Islamic World AI Charter.

Organized under the patronage of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, GAIN 2024 will also see participation from industry giants such as Accenture, Oracle, Dell Technologies, Siemens, Boston Dynamics, and Google Cloud.

Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi, President of SDAIA, emphasized the significance of this summit, stating, “As we approach the third edition of the Global AI Summit, we stand on the brink of a new era where AI’s transformative power will be explored through the theme ‘Now, Next, Never’—examining AI’s current state, future trajectory, and the ethical considerations necessary to shape a desirable future. The need for international collaboration to fully harness AI’s potential and manage its impact responsibly has never been more critical.”

Dr. Alghamdi further highlighted Saudi Arabia’s commitment to advancing AI technologies for the benefit of humanity, under the visionary leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He expressed enthusiasm for welcoming global leaders and innovators to Riyadh to collectively explore how AI can create a brighter, more inclusive future.

GAIN 2024 is expected to be a catalyst for global AI innovation, offering attendees over 120 interactive sessions, networking opportunities with industry pioneers, and the chance to contribute to groundbreaking AI collaborations. The summit will also feature several agreements and announcements between SDAIA and leading global AI technology companies.
