  • Strengthening National Network: This strategic move supports Bahrain’s Fifth National Telecommunications Plan (NTP5) to consolidate fixed telecommunications infrastructure under BNET.
  • Enhanced Fiber Services: The partnership aims to deliver more efficient fiber services and expand coverage across Bahrain, improving telecommunications services for customers.

Manama, Bahrain – BNET, the national company responsible for Bahrain’s fiber-based broadband network, has partnered with Infonas, a leading telecom services provider, to transfer Infonas’ fixed fiber network assets to BNET’s infrastructure. This collaboration marks a significant step towards strengthening Bahrain’s national broadband network and enhancing connectivity across the Kingdom.

The agreement aligns with Bahrain’s Fifth National Telecommunications Plan (NTP5), which mandates the transfer of all fixed telecommunications infrastructure assets to BNET. This consolidation aims to create a unified national broadband network, providing equal access to all fiber-optic service providers and promoting a more competitive telecommunications market.

“BNET is proud to be merging Infonas’ fixed assets to its single network, as part of our commitment to fulfilling the directives of the National Telecommunications Plan,” said Ahmed Jaber Alhogbani Aldoseri, CEO of BNET.

This partnership signifies an important milestone in the development of Bahrain’s telecommunications sector. Infonas is the first licensed operator to transfer its assets to BNET since the latter’s separation from Batelco in 2019.

BNET has been actively working with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to establish policies that facilitate the transfer of fixed fiber network assets from licensed operators. This includes the introduction of new BNET services to the Kingdom’s wholesale sector.

“We would also like to commend the efforts of both parties towards successfully completing this transaction. BNET is dedicated to working alongside all telecommunications companies and invites more network operators to transfer their assets to join our single network,” added Aldoseri.

Infonas expressed its commitment to supporting the national goal of unifying fixed telecommunications infrastructure in Bahrain. The company believes this partnership will enhance fiber services and expand coverage across the Kingdom.

“We hope this step will deliver more efficient fiber services and enhance coverage to unprecedented heights as we ensure our customers experience uninterrupted and elevated telecommunications services stronger than before,” said Robert Rees, Chief Revenue Officer at Infonas.

This collaboration between BNET and Infonas demonstrates a shared commitment to advancing Bahrain’s telecommunications sector and enhancing connectivity for businesses and consumers. By consolidating fixed network assets under BNET, the partnership aims to create a more robust and efficient national broadband network for the Kingdom.
