Ericsson and Mobily Enhance 5G Connectivity in Saudi Arabia with AI-Powered Uplink Optimiser

Ericsson and Mobily, a leading innovator in Saudi Arabia’s Telecommunications, Media, and Technology (TMT) sector, have successfully completed a trial of Ericsson’s AI-powered 5G Uplink Interference Optimiser. This trial aimed to improve 5G mobile uplink performance, delivering superior connectivity and enhancing user experiences across Mobily’s network.

The trial, conducted using the Uplink Interference Optimiser module from Ericsson’s Cognitive Software portfolio, demonstrated a remarkable 80% increase in transmissions conducted under high-quality conditions. This improvement has resulted in significant gains in spectral efficiency and throughput, paving the way for better 5G performance.

As a result, Mobily’s customers can expect faster upload speeds and improved 5G experiences on their mobile devices. The success of this trial can also lead to an increase in higher-order modulation, which enhances spectral efficiency and overall network performance.

Alaa Malki, Chief Technology Officer at Mobily, expressed the significance of this partnership, stating, “Partnering with Ericsson in this trial highlights our commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enhance the customer experience. By embracing AI-driven solutions, we are setting new benchmarks in network performance, ensuring our customers benefit from faster, more reliable 5G connectivity. This collaboration not only strengthens our service offerings but also contributes to the evolution of the telecommunications landscape in Saudi Arabia.”

Ekow Nelson, Vice President at Ericsson Middle East and Africa, emphasized the broader vision of the collaboration, saying, “Together with Mobily, we are working towards enhancing 5G mobile connectivity for users in Saudi Arabia in line with Saudi Vision 2030’s goals for a developed digital infrastructure. This trial highlights our dedication to delivering innovative solutions that elevate user experience through fast and reliable mobile services, while meeting the growing demand for mobile services.”

This successful trial highlights the potential of Ericsson’s Cognitive Software in driving improvements in 5G network performance. As AI continues to play a crucial role in network operations, this initiative demonstrates how advanced technology can optimize and enhance the user experience. Both Ericsson and Mobily are committed to further collaboration, bringing cutting-edge 5G technologies to Saudi Arabia and paving the way for a more connected and efficient future.
