MUSCAT: The government of Oman has launched a virtual tour service, providing a unique online experience that highlights the country’s stunning landscapes and modern infrastructure. Under the patronage of Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Al Zaabi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Transport introduced the first phase of this Virtual Tour project.
The virtual tour allows users from around the world to explore Oman’s breathtaking beauty from the comfort of their homes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting innovation and improving digital accessibility. The first phase focuses on iconic sites, including Khor Rori, a UNESCO World Heritage site, aiming to promote Oman as a culturally and naturally rich tourist destination that is accessible to a global audience.
Using “Trekkers” devices, the project has captured approximately 36,000 kilometers of imagery, providing an immersive experience for users. The virtual tour will expand in 2025 to include more sites and landmarks, offering a comprehensive view of Oman’s diverse natural and cultural heritage.
This initiative is a significant step in enhancing Oman’s digital presence while giving the world an opportunity to experience its wonders. It reinforces Oman’s status as a top tourist destination, rich in both cultural and natural features, and affirms its accessibility to global audiences.
