Jordan Sees 37% Growth in 5G Subscriptions in Q3 2024, Boosting Digital Economy

Jordan experienced a 37% increase in 5G subscriptions during the third quarter of 2024, compared to the previous period, according to the 2024 5G Indicators Report released by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC).

By mid-2024, mobile broadband users in the country had reached approximately 8 million, with over 70,000 5G subscribers by the end of Q3, highlighting a significant rise in adoption.

The rollout of 5G infrastructure also made considerable progress, with more than 230 towers now operational, enhancing connectivity in key regions across Jordan.

Commenting on the findings, ICT specialist Lina Hani told The Jordan Times that the economic benefits of 5G adoption would become more evident as the technology supports the growth of tech companies, startups, and industrial automation. This will help accelerate and nurture a more inclusive economic system.

Bayan Khaled, a computer engineer and AI developer, also emphasized that Jordan is on the right track in transitioning to a digitally connected economy. She noted that the expansion of 5G infrastructure would not only create more job opportunities in the telecommunications industry but also in other sectors related to the digital economy.

While Jordan’s progress in digital infrastructure is promising, both experts agree that there is still potential for further growth and development.
