Jazz has expanded its Digital Pakistan Fellowship Programme to Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) to engage students in shaping the digital discourse and contributing to the evolving landscape of tech journalism. This fellowship offers students the opportunity to raise awareness about the potential of technology to transform society, helping to realize the vision of a Digital Pakistan.
The programme provides a platform for young people to lead impactful conversations around technology, innovation, and progress. It encourages students to develop critical perspectives and use their voices to educate the public on the role of technology in Pakistan’s development, while showcasing the country’s potential on the global stage.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Jazz and LUMS during a ceremony at LUMS on Wednesday. This collaboration builds on Jazz’s previous partnerships with academic institutions such as the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Beaconhouse National University (BNU), and Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) to promote tech-driven innovation and storytelling.
The Digital Pakistan Fellowship Programme has already empowered over 90 fellows, with 78% of them being women, in the field of tech journalism. Additionally, two citizen journalism cohorts have engaged over 1,200 creators, providing more than 2,500 hours of training. With the expansion to LUMS, Jazz continues its mission to drive innovation-led growth and inspire the youth to actively contribute to Pakistan’s digital transformation.
Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz, commented, “By empowering students to lead the discourse on technology and innovation, we aim to inspire narratives that reflect Pakistan’s readiness to embrace a tech-driven future. This initiative is part of Jazz’s broader vision to enable the youth to drive meaningful change through the power of technology.”
Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor of LUMS, said, “At LUMS, we believe education is not just about acquiring knowledge but fostering the ability to think critically and engage meaningfully with the challenges of our time. This partnership with Jazz provides our students with the opportunity to explore the transformative role of technology and lead conversations that contribute to a progressive and digitally empowered Pakistan.”
As part of the fellowship programme, students will have opportunities to create and amplify narratives about technology on popular platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Jazz’s vision is to inspire a new generation of storytellers who can articulate the transformative role of technology in fostering progress and innovation.
