Sri Lanka to Launch ‘GovPay’ for Streamlined Digital Government Payments

Sri Lanka will officially launch ‘GovPay’ on February 7, marking the first step in the digitalization of government services. The initiative aims to modernize and streamline government payment processes, enabling seamless transactions through a secure and efficient digital platform. The launch will be led by President Anura Kumara Disanayake.

GovPay will initially integrate 16 government institutions, with 30 additional institutions joining in two subsequent phases, achieving full implementation by April 2025. The platform will allow citizens to make payments for government services using fintech applications or online banking platforms, improving the convenience and efficiency of revenue collection.
