RIYADH – Tencent Cloud has officially unveiled its inaugural Middle East Cloud Region in Saudi Arabia, featuring two availability zones with full redundancy, advanced cloud services, and AI-driven capabilities.
The new zones, expected to go live in 2025, will integrate Saudi Arabia into Tencent Cloud’s global network, which includes over 50 availability zones across 21 regions. This expansion will offer a broad array of cutting-edge Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions, such as advanced analytics, AI technologies, digital media innovations, superapp technologies, and more.
Hu Dan, Vice President of Tencent Cloud International for the Middle East and North Africa, described the new Cloud Region as a significant milestone in Tencent Cloud’s growth within the region. He emphasized that the new infrastructure will support Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation in sectors such as digital media, streaming, video gaming, esports, e-commerce, tourism, financial services, telecommunications, and beyond.
Mohammed Alrobayan, Deputy Minister for Technology at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Saudi Arabia, expressed that Tencent Cloud’s decision to launch its first cloud region in the Kingdom represents a pivotal moment for the region’s digital transformation. He highlighted that this move would not only strengthen Saudi Arabia’s digital infrastructure but also accelerate the adoption of innovative technologies. Alrobayan also noted the Kingdom’s vision of becoming a global hub for digital solutions and smart technologies, driving an economy centered around innovation and knowledge.
