A tripartite memorandum of agreement has been signed between the CEOs of TIC Company, Pishgaman Company (Iran), and Omantel (Oman Telecom Company), with the aim of enhancing data transit across northern and southern routes. The agreement, according to TIC’s PR, is a significant step toward positioning Iran as a regional data transfer hub.
As part of the agreement, the data transfer capacity to Oman will increase to 4.5 Tbps. By optimizing existing infrastructure, the project will reduce both time and cost for data transfer between Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, offering a more efficient alternative to traditional, longer sea routes.
The partnership with Omantel, one of the leading telecom operators in the Persian Gulf region, will enhance Iran’s connectivity to international networks via the southern corridor, providing more stable connections to global data centers. At the same time, utilizing Iran’s northern routes will boost the security and diversity of data transmission to Europe, ensuring more reliable and secure routes for global data flow.
