Saudi SMEs Show Remarkable Optimism, Embrace Digitalization for Growth

A study by Mastercard reveals that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Saudi Arabia are viewing 2025 with optimism, with 93% of businesses confident about the next 12 months. This positive outlook aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, emphasizing digital transformation and economic diversification to empower SMEs.

The third edition of the Mastercard SME Confidence Index highlights the pivotal role of digitalization and innovative technologies in driving growth. The majority of Saudi SMEs are focusing on secure digital payments, data analytics, and adopting artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize operations. With 99% of businesses accepting digital payments, SMEs are leveraging these tools to streamline transactions and improve customer satisfaction.

Dimitrios Dosis, President of Mastercard for Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa, emphasized that SMEs are key to economic resilience, and Mastercard continues to support them through tailored solutions. The study also found that 72% of SMEs prioritize AI adoption as a strategic focus for the coming year.

Mastercard has reinforced its commitment to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 by launching local technology infrastructure to support e-commerce transactions, in partnership with the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA). Additionally, Mastercard introduced the SME Business credit card with Saudi Awwal Bank (SAB) to provide businesses with efficient financial management and access to credit.
