Qatar is accelerating its digital transformation efforts, with the upcoming Web Summit Qatar 2025 being a pivotal event. Set to take place from February 23 to 26 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC), the summit, sponsored by Doha Bank as a Platinum Level Partner, will bring global tech leaders together to drive innovation and collaboration.
Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Fahad bin Faisal Al Thani, Group CEO of Doha Bank, highlighted the summit’s importance in furthering Qatar’s vision for a diversified, knowledge-based economy. The event will bolster the nation’s growing tech ecosystem, connecting local stakeholders with global industry leaders.
Qatar’s commitment to digital transformation is also reflected in its advanced digital infrastructure, ranking among the top global performers with the rollout of 5G networks and fiber optic investments. The Digital Inclusion Index (DII) report from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology emphasizes the need for ensuring all segments of society benefit from digital services, particularly as shifts toward telehealth and contactless services accelerate.
The DII, part of Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030, outlines key focus areas for digital accessibility, affordability, and content availability. These efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in promoting inclusive education and lifelong learning. Despite progress, the country acknowledges the need for ongoing efforts to close the digital divide and ensure equitable access to digital services for all residents.
Sheikh Abdulrahman expressed excitement for the future of Qatar’s tech ecosystem and reiterated the importance of continued commitment to digital transformation, marking the Web Summit as just one step toward shaping the nation’s technology-driven future.
