The Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) has signed a long-term agreement with Arabsat, the leading satellite operator in the Arab world, to enhance the global reach of Saudi TV channels. The partnership, announced at the FOMEX exhibition in Riyadh from February 19 to 21, 2025, will see Saudi TV channels broadcast via Arabsat satellites positioned at the 26 degrees East and 30.5 degrees East orbital slots, with additional local channels transmitted on the Arabsat 5C satellite at 20 degrees East.
The 26 degrees East orbital position offers a strategic advantage with high viewership potential, robust content security, and backup capacity, ensuring seamless broadcasts even in emergencies. The Badr 7 satellite, which will also broadcast Saudi channels, is equipped with advanced anti-jamming technologies, ensuring uninterrupted quality transmission. The Arabsat 5C satellite, covering Africa, will enhance the reach of Saudi programming across the continent, further bolstering Arabsat’s influence in the Arab and African media landscapes.
Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Harthi, CEO of SBA, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing the importance of expanding Saudi content globally and sharing Saudi culture with a broader audience. Eng. Alhamedi Alanezi, President & CEO of Arabsat, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, reinforcing Arabsat’s commitment to providing top-tier broadcasting services to meet the aspirations of viewers worldwide.
This initiative aligns with SBA’s broader strategy to expand its global footprint and deliver high-quality, uninterrupted content, ensuring the continued growth of Saudi media and culture across international markets.
