In an interview with The Peninsula, Vahe Torossian, President, Chief Partner Officer, and Chief Revenue Officer at Builder.ai, emphasized Qatar’s leadership in AI and emerging technologies in the GCC region. He highlighted the country’s $2.5 billion investment in AI and data analytics, which is expected to generate $11 billion by 2030 and create 26,000 jobs. Qatar’s commitment to AI education and workforce development further solidifies its position as a top contender in the digital economy.
Qatar ranks among the top AI-ready nations, alongside the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and continues to innovate through institutions like the Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI), Qatar University, and Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU). This strong ecosystem is positioning Qatar as a leader in AI and digital transformation across the region.
The Middle East is expected to see significant economic growth from AI, with a PwC report estimating $320 billion in global AI benefits by 2030. As governments in the GCC invest heavily in cybersecurity, smart cities, and automation, businesses and startups are being presented with ample opportunities to innovate.
Torossian also discussed Builder.ai’s growth and expansion in key markets, focusing on simplifying the software development process. The company’s AI-powered platform, Natasha AI, enables businesses to create apps without technical expertise, helping small businesses and entrepreneurs succeed in the digital world by offering no-code and low-code tools.
