The Moroccan government has signed separate Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Nokia and Ericsson to accelerate its Digital Morocco 2030 plan, focusing on digital talent development and technological advancements.
On Wednesday, Nokia announced its collaboration with Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform. Under the MoU, Nokia’s Innovation Center, which was inaugurated in 2023, will play a pivotal role in nurturing talent, research, and developing tailored solutions for Morocco’s digital landscape. The center will also support the Ministry’s Al Jazari initiative, which aims to foster local innovation and technological excellence. Additionally, Nokia will assist in enhancing the skills of young Moroccan talents in digital technologies, telecommunications, and IT, offering internationally recognized certification programs.
On Tuesday, Ericsson also signed an MoU with Morocco’s Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills Employment (MIEPECC). The focus of this partnership is to explore various opportunities for entrepreneurs and small businesses to benefit from Ericsson’s global educational initiatives. Through this collaboration, entrepreneurs and small business owners in Morocco will gain access to essential digital skills and educational resources, contributing to sustainable employment and innovation across sectors.
Nokia’s MoU with the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform further includes providing consultancy services aimed at improving national internet coverage by deploying 5G networks and expanding fibre optic networks. Nokia will also contribute to initiatives like the National High Debit Plan and infrastructure-sharing strategies. In addition, Nokia will bring its telecom expertise to enhance digital experiences during major events, such as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, both of which Morocco will host.
Both MoUs were signed during the GITEX 2025 industry event in Marrakech, marking a significant step toward Morocco’s digital transformation under the Digital Morocco 2030 plan.
