Robi Axiata PLC and Meta have introduced a new feature allowing Robi and Airtel customers in Bangladesh to access Facebook photos and use Messenger without an active data balance. Previously, users without data could only access a text-only version of Facebook. Now, users can view both text and photos, although videos will appear as thumbnails until a data connection is restored.
Robi will also notify users of their current data balance through pop-up notifications, helping them decide whether to purchase internet packs or take a data loan via mobile financial services (MFS) or bank accounts. This initiative marks a significant step in advancing Bangladesh’s digital inclusion efforts.
