Pakistan’s Tapmad Expands to Bangladesh in Partnership with Grameenphone

Pakistan-based OTT streaming platform Tapmad has officially entered the Bangladesh market through a partnership with Grameenphone, one of the country’s leading telecommunications operators. The collaboration will bring Tapmad’s premium sports content — including the English Premier League, Asia Cup, MMA, PFL, and international cricket tours — to Bangladeshi viewers.

Under the new agreement, Grameenphone users can access Tapmad’s sports catalog via the MyGP app, the Tapmad app, or the Tapmad website, with subscription plans available on a weekly or monthly basis using mobile balance for payment. Initially, the offering in Bangladesh will focus exclusively on live and on-demand sports.

“This partnership is a significant step in extending Tapmad’s footprint beyond Pakistan,” said Yassir Pasha, CEO of Tapmad. “After achieving tremendous growth at home, we’re thrilled to bring our world-class streaming experience to Bangladesh.”

Ramiz Ahmed Soomro, Head of VOD at Tapmad, emphasized that the platform’s ad-free and sports-centric approach differentiates it from competitors. “We’re not just a streaming company; we’re promoters of sports culture in Pakistan,” he said, noting Tapmad’s original productions to revive national interest in local sports such as hockey.

Aly Rana, COO of Tapmad, described Bangladesh as a “fast-growing market” and said the platform’s goal is to deliver “an international streaming experience that feels local,” tailored to the viewing preferences of Bangladeshi audiences.

Zahiduz Zaman, Head of Digital Platform, Payment & Partnership at Grameenphone, said the collaboration aligns with the telecom operator’s mission to provide next-generation digital experiences to its customers.

Tapmad faces competition in the region from platforms such as Tamashaa, Myco, and BJ Sports. The company operates in Pakistan under Pi Pakistan Pvt. Ltd., owned by Tapmad Holdings Pte. Ltd., and continues to expand its footprint in South Asia’s fast-growing digital entertainment space.
