UAE-based satellite firm Space42 has signed two major Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with e& UAE and South Korea’s Autonomous A2Z to accelerate the development of the UAE’s autonomous mobility services ecosystem. The partnerships, unveiled at GITEX Global 2025, aim to position the UAE as a regional leader in intelligent transportation and smart city innovation.
Under the first MoU, Space42 and e& UAE will collaborate to develop, test, and deploy Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technologies, integrating Space42’s newly launched Sovereign Mobility Cloud and autonomous vehicle solutions with e& UAE’s 5.5G, edge computing, and secure communications capabilities — with a forward-looking roadmap toward 6G connectivity.
The two companies will co-develop pilot projects, business models, and regulatory frameworks to enable connected and autonomous mobility across the country.
“Together with Space42, we’re combining UAE-wide 5.5G, edge compute, and secure communications with the Sovereign Mobility Cloud to let vehicles ‘see’ more, react faster, and share trusted data with roads, signals, and pedestrians,” said Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, CEO of e& UAE. “Our goal is to help regulators and city operators stand up safe, certifiable pilots that improve road safety and traffic flow while paving the way for the 6G era.”
Separately, Space42 signed another MoU with Autonomous A2Z to establish a joint venture in Abu Dhabi focused on deploying and commercialising Level-4 autonomous driving technologies across the Middle East and Africa. This builds on an earlier collaboration between the two companies in 2024. The new venture will serve as a hub for innovation, R&D, and the commercialization of autonomous mobility solutions in the region.
“The UAE is rapidly advancing towards a new era of intelligent transport,” said Hasan Al Hosani, CEO of Smart Solutions at Space42. “By joining forces with A2Z, we are paving the way for local innovation, technological advancement, and sovereign capability in one of the most transformative sectors of our time.”
Space42’s Sovereign Mobility Cloud, launched last month, operates on Core42’s Sovereign Public Cloud powered by Microsoft Azure, delivering AI-enabled infrastructure for mapping, fleet operations, and traffic management. The company has also partnered with Dynamic Map Platform and General Motors to enhance its autonomous systems.
Space42 already runs its own robotaxi service, TXAI, in Abu Dhabi — operational since 2021 — which has logged nearly 600,000 km of autonomous driving and 20,000 passenger trips across Saadiyat, Yas, Al Maryah, and Al Reem Islands, as well as Abu Dhabi Airport, without any reported incidents.
Together, these agreements mark a major leap toward building a comprehensive, UAE-led autonomous mobility ecosystem powered by advanced satellite and AI infrastructure.
