Algiers, October 28, 2025 — Algeria is joining forces with Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, and Algérie Telecom to enhance the online gaming experience for the country’s growing community of players. The collaboration aims to optimize local servers, reduce lag, and create a smoother and more reliable gaming environment.
Algerian Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Zerrouki, confirmed that discussions are underway following direct contact from Epic Games and Algérie Telecom. “We are exploring ways to provide a better and safer digital experience for Algerian users, promoting trust, balance, and enjoyable digital entertainment for all,” he said.
The move follows weeks of widespread connectivity issues reported by Algerian players, including login failures and high latency, which often forced users to rely on VPNs — further worsening performance. Epic Games traced the problem to routing issues within Algérie Telecom’s infrastructure and engaged with the government to find a long-term solution.
According to DZWatch, the collaboration is expected to deliver noticeable improvements such as reduced latency, enhanced data transfer speeds, and more stable connectivity, ensuring a smoother Fortnite experience across the country.
Beyond resolving technical issues, this partnership highlights Africa’s growing presence in the global digital entertainment industry. By investing in stronger infrastructure and local optimization, Algeria is paving the way for future growth in gaming innovation and esports across the continent.
