Islamabad, October 29, 2025 — PTCL Group (PTCL & Ufone 4G) and the GSMA have signed a long-term Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at GITEX Global 2025, deepening collaboration across telecom and multiple industries to accelerate Pakistan’s digital ecosystem.
The partnership centers on the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, a global framework that enables enterprises to securely connect their services to mobile networks using standardized Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). The initiative aims to simplify the integration of new digital services, boost interoperability, and drive large-scale innovation.
As part of this collaboration, PTCL Group announced the successful development and certification of two new APIs — ‘Send OTP’ and ‘Validate OTP’ — under the CAMARA 1.0.0 standard, the latest version built on Client Initiated Backend Authentication (CIBA). These APIs enhance user authentication, reduce fraud, and improve customer experience through globally recognized security frameworks.
With this achievement, PTCL Group joins a growing network of global telecom innovators contributing to the GSMA Open Gateway ecosystem, which enables developers, startups, and enterprises to embed mobile network capabilities directly into their platforms.
Jafar Khalid, Group Chief Technology and Information Officer, PTCL & Ufone 4G, said:
“This milestone marks another step forward in PTCL Group’s journey to modernize and standardize our integration ecosystem through the CAMARA framework. By adopting this global standard, we’re enhancing agility, accelerating time-to-market, and improving service quality. This foundation will empower collaboration with developers and enterprises, unlocking new business models and driving sustainable growth.”
Jawad Abbassi, Head of MENA at GSMA, added:
“We are delighted to welcome PTCL Group to the GSMA Open Gateway initiative. Their participation marks a significant step forward in accelerating the digital ecosystem across Pakistan and the region. By opening up network capabilities through common APIs, PTCL Group is helping to foster innovation, enhance interoperability, and enable next-generation digital services at scale.”
The agreement underscores PTCL Group’s leadership in digital transformation and commitment to advancing Pakistan’s position in the global digital economy. By leveraging the GSMA Open Gateway framework, PTCL Group aims to power 5G, IoT, and AI-driven applications, fostering a future of secure, scalable, and interoperable connectivity for businesses and consumers alike.
