Rabat — October 30, 2025:
Morocco has officially authorized the deployment and operation of fifth-generation (5G) mobile networks, granting licenses to the nation’s three major telecommunications operators — Itissalat Al-Maghrib (Maroc Telecom), Médi Telecom, and Wana Corporate.
The decision was approved during Thursday’s Government Council meeting, chaired in Rabat, following the presentation of three draft decrees by the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform.
Approved 5G Licenses
- Decree No. 2.25.876: Grants a 5G network license to Itissalat Al-Maghrib (Maroc Telecom).
- Decree No. 2.25.877: Authorizes Médi Telecom to deploy and operate 5G networks.
- Decree No. 2.25.878: Approves Wana Corporate’s license to roll out 5G services under the same framework.
Government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas confirmed during a press briefing that the licenses followed a competitive bidding process launched by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) in accordance with Law No. 24-96 on postal and telecommunications services.
He added that the process was preceded by the validation of technical specifications through the administrative committee established under Decree No. 2.25.565 of July 11, 2025, ensuring transparent and standardized evaluation procedures.
The approval marks a major milestone in Morocco’s digital transformation, paving the way for nationwide 5G rollout, enhanced connectivity, and new economic opportunities across industries.
