Kathmandu — November 10, 2025: Nepal has officially launched its National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre, a major milestone under the government’s Digital Nepal vision aimed at modernizing governance, boosting innovation, and supporting private sector growth.
The Centre, inaugurated by Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel, will serve as a national hub for AI policy, research, and implementation. It seeks to apply AI in key areas such as good governance, corruption control, employment creation, and innovation, while addressing human resource shortages through automation and improved data integrity.
Operating under the framework of the AI Policy 2082, the Centre will guide the integration of AI across public and private sectors, support AI-based startups, and help design digital services that make government operations more transparent and efficient. The IT Centre, a key unit within the new institution, will lead policy development and facilitate AI adoption across industries.
By investing in digital capacity-building and cross-sector collaboration, Nepal aims to transform its economy, empower youth, and position itself as a regional leader in AI innovation.
