Egypt and Algeria Sign Wide-Ranging Cooperation Agreements Across Key Sectors

Egypt and Algeria have strengthened their bilateral partnership with the signing of multiple memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and cooperation agreements across a wide array of strategic sectors. The agreements were inked during a ceremony attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb.

The two countries formalized cooperation in housing, urban development and city planning through a new MoU, alongside another agreement between Egypt’s Agricultural Research Center and Algeria’s National Higher School of Agronomy. Academic collaboration was further expanded with an agreement between Al-Azhar University and Ahmed Draia University of Adrar.

Governmental cooperation also deepened with MoUs between Egypt’s Ministry of Legal and Parliamentary Affairs and Algeria’s Ministry of Relations with Parliament, as well as between the Ministry of Local Development and Algeria’s Ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport.

Youth and cultural ties saw major advancements, with the Ministry of Youth and Sports signing an executive cooperation program for 2026–2027, and the Ministry of Culture sealing a 2025–2028 partnership with its Algerian counterpart. The Egyptian Opera House also signed an MoU with the Algiers Opera House.

Additional agreements covered archives management, financial cooperation between the two Ministries of Finance, and energy transition initiatives focusing on renewable and new energy solutions.

Further deals included technical cooperation between the Ministry of Labor and Algeria’s Ministry of Vocational Training and Education (2026–2027), a social solidarity agreement running through 2028, and a new consumer protection framework. A cooperation protocol was also signed between the Central Agency for Organization and Administration and Algeria’s Directorate General of Public Service and Administrative Reform.
