Bangladesh’s accelerating digital transformation took centre stage as Huawei and the ICT Division jointly hosted “Bangladesh TechConnect 2025” in Dhaka, uniting senior policymakers, regulators, mobile operators, fintech players, ICT firms, enterprises and academic institutions. More than 300 participants attended the conference, underscoring the momentum behind the country’s next phase of digital progress.
Speaking virtually as chief guest, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for Posts, Telecommunications and Information, said the government’s refreshed digital strategy is already delivering measurable improvements. He noted that Bangladesh has recalibrated its transformation methods in recent months and now aims to empower citizens through more accessible and integrated digital services.
The event opened with remarks by ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury, who reinforced the importance of public-private partnerships in sustaining national digital ambitions. He praised Huawei’s long-standing collaboration and highlighted the TechConnect platform as a catalyst for future progress.
ICT Division Additional Secretary Md Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan outlined priority areas in the government’s digital roadmap, while Julian Gorman, Head of GSMA Asia Pacific, shared regional insights on narrowing the digital divide. A panel featuring representatives from BTRC, mobile network operators and Huawei focused on leveraging Bangladesh’s existing digital infrastructure to drive economic transformation and sector-wide innovation.
The conference also reflected the deepening partnership between Huawei and the ICT Division, building on years of collaboration in cloud, connectivity, digital governance and capacity development.
