Bahrain’s TRA Participates in ITU World Telecommunication Development Conference WTDC-25 in Baku

Baku, Dec. 14 (BNA): Bahrain’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) participated in the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), held in Azerbaijan, as part of its continued engagement in global ICT development initiatives.

As an active ITU member and an elected member of the ITU Council, Bahrain’s delegation contributed to conference committees, working groups, and policy discussions focused on telecommunications sector development. The participation reflected Bahrain’s commitment to advancing digital inclusion and accelerating progress across the ICT ecosystem.

During the conference, the delegation showcased Bahrain’s achievements in digital transformation, regulatory modernisation, and the expansion of high-quality connectivity nationwide. On the sidelines of WTDC-25, the TRA hosted a reception in Baku attended by senior officials, diplomats, organisers, and representatives from the international telecommunications community.

Mariam Ahmed Jamaan, Chairperson of the TRA, reaffirmed Bahrain’s support for Adel Darwish and his upcoming candidacy for the role of ITU Deputy Secretary-General for the 2027–2030 term, citing his experience, leadership, and vision for strengthening the Union’s global impact. The delegation also reiterated its commitment to working with ITU member states to promote sustainable, inclusive, and innovative digital development worldwide
